The Aboriginal Medical Service Western Sydney (AMSWS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Medical Service and is managed by local Aboriginal people for Aboriginal people.
This allows the local Aboriginal community to have a say in the types of programs delivered and the staff we employ.
As a requirement of the AMSWS Constitution, a Board of Directors is elected annually by its members (all Aboriginal people from the local community) and meets monthly.
Election onto the Board ensures that local community members have an opportunity and involvement in the decisions and implementation of various programs at AMSWS.
