The Aboriginal Medical Service Western Sydney (AMSWS) Health Education Officers (HEOs) provide education and awareness to clients on HIV/Aids, Substance Misuse and Public Health issues.
HEOs facilitate workshops, focus groups and visit schools in the local area.
They also provide support and advocacy for Aboriginal people who are in need of assistance with HIV/Aids and Substance Misuse related problems.
When required, the HEO liaises on behalf of clients with other agencies, doctors and other specialist services.
The HEO Public Health also advocates for public health policy, development, research and training to advocate, encourage and promote knowledge relating to various public health issues.
